Abstract

Building religious moderation amidst religious diversity and digital penetration requires a contextual approach. Cyber pedagogy is the utilization of digitization as an instrument in fostering the spirit of religious moderation in both virtual and diverse reality spaces. Cyber pedagogy integrates conventional models with digitization models as instruments for building religious moderation literacy. This model is then enriched with a digital ethnography perspective as a way of developing a religious moderation model in the mindset of digital penetration. Thus, the religious and human dimensions that prioritize social relations, solidarity, and tolerance are continuously maintained as the strength of religion in the face of such diversity. There are two underlying factors for employing the cyber pedagogy approach in building religious moderation in virtual spaces. First, virtual spaces have become arenas of contestation for building religious moderation. Second, pedagogy balance is necessary in both virtual and empirical spaces. In this regard, a contextual approach is needed to create harmony, balance, and religious tolerance. The target of the religious moderation model is all citizens. Therefore, religious moderation is confronted with the reality of digital penetration in virtual spaces. To achieve this goal, this research employs a qualitative method using phenomenological research. The model is then enriched with a digital ethnography perspective as a way of developing a religious moderation model in the mindset of digital penetration in virtual spaces. Thus, the religious and human dimensions that prioritize social relations, solidarity, and tolerance are continuously maintained as the strength of religion in the face of such diversity.
