Abstract

The purpose of this study was conducted to analyze the ability to interpret kinematics graphs of students, the difficulties of students in interpreting graphs for class X IPA MAS Daarul Mu'minin Kab.  Wajo. The type of research conducted was Mix-Method with a Sequential Explanatory Design research design.  The subjects of this study were students of class X IPA MAS Daarul Mu'minin Kab.  Wajo, totaling 24 people.  The number of quantitative samples is 24 people and the number of qualitative subjects is 17 people.  The research instrument used was a multiple choice test about the ability to interpret graphs.  Based on the results of the study, the ability to interpret graphs of students is still in the low category in general, but for each indicator it is in the medium category.  Factors that cause the low ability to interpret graphs are not maximal learning that is done, nor the absence of student initiative to find sources and references about kinematics material independently.  Likewise, the level of confidence of students in answering questions is in the low CRI category for wrong answers in the High CRI category for wrong answers.  Furthermore, in general research data there are three groups of students in terms of understanding the concept of 3.75%, students who do not understand the concept of 11.1% and students who experience misconceptions of 5.13%. The implications of this research are the results  research that describes the ability to interpret kinematic graphs of students.  It is hoped that this information will be useful for educational institutions to be used as a basis for consideration in efforts to improve good learning strategies.  In addition, the results of this study can be used as reasons for consideration, reference and challenges, especially for those who wish to conduct similar research
