THE ROLE OF VOLUNTEERS IN DISASTER PREPAREDNESS FOR SOCIAL WELFARE STUDENTS AT ALAUDDIN STATE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MAKASSAR (STUDY OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT PREPAREDNESS)

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the activities carried out by welfare students regarding disaster preparedness, both from the aspect of disasters that occur including mitigation, preparedness and early warning, emergency response to disasters, and after the disaster has passed psychosocial therapy. While the type of research is descriptive qualitative with a focus on the role of volunteers. The data sources are 9 informants, namely students concentrating on social welfare, lecturers, coaches and trainers who are members of the disaster preparedness cadets. Techniques using semi-structured and in-depth interviews. This paper discusses the role of social welfare student volunteers in disaster management preparedness from the aspect of training and practice. The results show that the activities carried out by volunteer cadets for disaster preparedness at the State Islamic University of Alauddin Makassar are; carry out pre-disaster, during disaster (emergency response), post-disaster (social assistance for disaster victims) stages of disaster. The implementation of training and practice is supported by the existence of a social welfare study laboratory program, in the structure and coaches of disaster preparedness cadets who train at the State Islamic University of Alauddin Makassar.
