Abstract

This paper attempts to explain the existence of the Hizb ut-Tahrir movement in Indonesia in the period from 2000-2007. The main problem answered in this paper is how Hizbut Tahrir builds an extra-parliamentary movement and the response of the community and Islamic organizations to HTI activities. The results of the study show that Hizbut Tahrir builds extra-parliamentary movements expressed in the form of movements or actions on the streets (long march). This action was in the context of criticizing various government policies which he considered did not support the interests of the people as well as rules that were not in accordance with Islamic law. Apart from moving in an extra-parliamentary form, they also carry out other social actions. The above actions are forms and activities of HTI which are extra-parliamentary in nature. Both what was done in Indonesia and what happened in several cities in Indonesia in general. The existence of HT has received responses from various groups of people, both from community leaders, academics and from groups or social organizations. Their responses or responses to HT's thoughts and da'wah look varied. There are those who consider the presence of HT to be 'complementary' to the existing Islamic movement. There are also those who consider that the presence of HT is considered a threat to the continuity and existence of the people in Indonesia who adhere to the Pancasila ideology.
