THE INFLUENCE OF SCOUT MOVEMENT ON LEADERSHIP CHARACTER AND SOCIAL AWARENESS OF UIN ALAUDDIN MAKASSAR’ STUDENTS

Abstract
The Scout Movement is regulated under Indonesian Law No. 12 of 2010. It is a youth development organization that emphasizes the cultivation of character, life skills, and noble morals through the practice and application of scouting values. Scouting activities aim to develop individuals who are faithful, devout, noble in character, patriotic, law-abiding, disciplined, uphold national values, and possess teamwork skills. These values also foster the spirit of leadership and social care among participants. The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of the Scout Movement on leadership character and social care among students at UIN Alauddin Makassar. Using an expost facto research design, this study explores the relationships and effects of the Scout Movement's implementation on the aforementioned variables. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation from a population of 447 student scouts, with a sample size of 68 respondents.The results demonstrated a positive influence of the Scout Movement on leadership character and social care among the Scouts. The findings also highlighted the essential role of consistent Scouting activities in shaping leadership skills and fostering social responsibility, which are critical for students' development both within the academic environment and the broader community.
