Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the trust patorani on work safety before, during and after fishing. Methods: This research is a qualitative descriptive study with an ethnographic approach and purposive sampling fishermen Patorani in Tamasaju Village. Result: The results showed that the patorani believe that before going to sea they must perform a safety ritual so that when looking for flying fish eggs they avoid unwanted things and get a lot of sustenance, by preparing offerings such as unti te'ne, kaddo minnya', kanre patangrupa, songkolo salama', sorongan, betel leaf, layer cake, pack of cigarettes, 2 chickens, pa'rappo, umba-umba, tai bani (red candle), langsat fruit, incense/incense, bette, lanra and salt. When going to sea, you should not or abstain from speaking indecently, speaking arrogantly or arrogantly. In addition, the wife of the fisherman Patorani is prohibited from leaving the house for too long while her husband is at sea because it will affect the blessing of her husband's catch. Conclusion: Therefore, it is suggested that the tradition of belief patorani in the ritual process does not deviate from the teachings of Islam. The request for salvation while at sea is only addressed to Allah swt, as the ruler of the universe.
